Unique Features of the OJQ
The OJQ is a unique and highly accurate assessment tool that provides significant advantages over other multi-rater methods for measuring performance and making staffing decisions. The OJQ provides the following six advantages:
Comparisons Between Candidates Are More Direct and More Accurate
Multiple raters compare each candidate's performance directly to the performance of other candidates in the talent pool. These direct comparisons are more accurate than other types of judgments.
"True Consensus" Data, Not "Averaged" Scores, are Generated By Raters
Judgments from multiple raters are combined to arrive at a true consensus rating for each individual. "True consensus" means that the judgments are not averaged as is done with many 360-degree survey results. The OJQ software program searches for clusters or groupings of rater information and identifies those ratings that are both inside and outside the consensus cluster. Only those ratings that are within the cluster are considered in the scores. This results in a more balanced evaluation that is based on actual job-related observations. This scoring identifies possible rater bias and other out-of-normal perceptions.
Rankings of All Candidates Are More Precise and Explicit
Rankings of all candidates are precise and explicit on each competency and on all competencies combined. These rankings are more useful in making decisions because the OJQ highlights both similarities and differences between the candidates.
Compares Candidates Across Different Locations, Teams Or Divisions
Candidates from different locations, teams or organizational divisions can be compared to one another. The OJQ is able to assimilate a large amount of data in a simplified format. Because of its statistical sampling process, it is not necessary for every rater to know every candidate in order to make valid comparisons.
Provides Information About the Quality Of Each Rater's Judgments
The OJQ provides information about the raters as well as the candidates. This information aids in minimizing the effects of individual bias or inadequate information. It also shows each rater's tendency to make extreme judgments or those that are inconsistent with the true consensus of the other raters.
Complies With Legal Requirements
Properly used, OJQ can ensure strict compliance with legal requirements. This limits the exposure to potentially large liabilities while providing management with highly valid and reliable information on which to base their staffing and downsizing decisions.
